Cosmetic treatment for nail conditions at Leigham Practice
Our podiatry team offer excellent solutions for a wide range of problems affecting nails, but there are times when you need a good cosmetic treatment, now.
Nail reconstruction builds up multiple layers of elastic polymer over an existing nail to give a genuinely great cosmetic result that usually lasts for up to several months.
Here is a typical example of what you can expect us to achieve, first showing the nail as it was presented before treatment.
First, we prepare the nail, by removing any loose pieces and smoothing the surface ready for reconstruction.
Then we build up one layer at a time, setting each layer under a specialist light before applying the next.
And finally – the finished result…
And for a direct comparison between ‘before’ and immediately ‘after’…
Nail reconstruction fees are based upon the time that is needed to complete the treatment, so the treatment of one big toenail might take the same as the treatment of two smaller nails on the same foot, so we have provided a guide on the treatment costs for common combinations :
Reconstruction of one big toe nail is £80
Reconstruction of two smaller nails on the same foot is £80
Reconstruction of two big toenails is £150
Any other combination is possible, but if you have multiple nails that require treatment, just drop us an email via the Online Consultation button on every page of our website, where you can send us a photo for our team to look. We can then give you an accurate quote for the treatment based on the exact time our team will need.
Do I need to do any prep before I attend?
No. We can carry out all preparations of the nail for you. If the nail is painful or inflamed, contact us before you attend and let us know, as we would want to find out the cause and address this before reconstruction.
Do I need to do anything after treatment?
No. You can bath and shower as normal, go running or to the gym, or anything else. Just bear in mind that the reconstructed nail is bonded to the underlying nail bed, so lots of impact through sport and activity, or lots of exposure to water from swimming, will mean that further reconstruction may be necessary sooner.
If only part of the reconstruction lifts, do I need a complete replacement?
Often, if only part of the reconstructed nail is lifting, we have a shorter ‘infill appointment’ where we can repair areas with no need for a complete replacement. Again, you can just send us a photo using the Online Consultation button on every page of our website and our team can tell you what type of appointment to make.
