  • The highest quality gait assessments for children and adults
  • Performance medicine for athletes and professional dancers
  • Biomechanics specialist to London’s West End and Dance UK

Problems when walking, running or dancing are always a serious problem, but can be disastrous if this affects your quality of life, health, or livelihood.

Signs of bunions, clawing of the toes, joint pains in the foot , ankle, knee and hip, hard skin formation and recurring injuries could all be signs of problems because of imbalance, malalignment and pressures as our bodies change.

Scott Corthine is highly regarded by his peers in biomechanics and works with adults and children with a wide variety of disabilities, health problems, athletic disciplines and dance styles for many years. He has been a consultant to many West End Productions and sits on the Medical Advisory Board of ‘Dance UK’, the charity who looks after the interests of professional dancers.

Biomechanical Assessment

Scott seeks long-term solutions for a wide variety of foot and leg problems and performs an assessment to:

  • Identify the underlying cause of your problems or concerns.
  • Discuss what they can do to help, including any options.
  • Explain what he feels treatment can realistically achieve.

When attending a biomechanical assessment our checklist includes:

  • Wear loose trousers that can be rolled above the knees or bring some shorts to change in to.
  • Bring in anything you have been given in the past, such as old orthoses or insoles, even if they did not help.
  • Bring in a selection of shoes that you normally wear including your 9-5 day shoes and any used for specific sports.
  • Bring a list of anything you think is relevant, such as a history of any injuries, surgery or medication you are taking.

Treatment

Once Scott understands the underlying cause of your problems, he will explain what he can do to get you better. This may involve stretches, exercises, manipulations, physiotherapy or orthoses (insoles that support and control the way the foot moves to avoid problems).
