Podiatric Foot Surgery
While our team of podiatrists are often able to offer treatments which seek to avoid the need for surgery, they also appreciate that for many foot problems there is a surgical solution.
Conditions treated
- Toe straightening procedures for claw/hammer toes and hallux valgus (bunions).
- The reduction of boney prominences
- Removal of lumps, bumps, cysts and ganglion
- Neurectomies
- Flat foot reconstruction
Referrals
A private consultation with a surgeon involves a referral to Harley Street. In order to avoid a wasted journey into town and considerable expense we initially suggest that any patients considering surgery as an option should also consider an initial appointment with our podiatrists who can discuss the cause of the foot problem and explain all of the options available, both surgical and non-surgical. Where surgery is agreed as being an appropriate option we refer to surgeons who we have worked with for many years and who are considered by their peers to produce work of the highest quality. Gavin Fane, one of our podiatrists, worked for several years as podiatric surgery assistant at St Thomas' Hospital Day Surgery Unit and has first hand experience of their work.
Clients with medical insurance are advised to check their policy as a letter of referral from a GP may be required. Again our podiatrists can assist this process by writing to the GP outlining the options considered and recommending podiatric surgery following their assessment. Clients without insurance may arrange an appointment without any letter of referral and may pay for the assessment by cash, cheque or card.
Following the referral to Harley Street some patients may consider, in light of their assessment and discussion with the surgeon, to proceed with an operation. The costs for fee-paying patients will be clearly explained and a date planned for surgery.
