Osteopathy at The Leigham Practice
Our osteopathic consultant, Martin Sheerin, started his career with first class honours, taking the year prize, and has develped his skills over the years to provide expert care for his patients, in addition to providing support to our other specialists within the practice.
Martin was recently accepted as one of the few osteopaths in the country to hold a prestigious NHS post in a major teaching hospital, which are rare and only offered to exceptional candidates. Having been further trained in acupuncture and with an additional degree in health and fitness Martin Sheerin offers comprehensive care for a full spectrum of osteopathic problems.
Osteopathy forms an essential part of our specialist musculo-skeletal services and our consultant applies his extensive skills to treat a wide variety of problems in babies, children and adults of all ages. Like all of our team of specialists, the skills of our practitioners are highlighted to reassure people with complex and difficult problems that they are placing their care in safe hands, but we would also point out that our team are also very happy helping people with not so serious problems! From the minor, to the major. We offer treatment for all the family.
Osteopathy is arguably most well known as specialist care of back pain and spinal problems, and the manipulation of bones and joints 'clicking' back into better positions. In fact osteopathy treats most of the musculo-skeletal problems treated by physiotherapy, with the addition of cranial osteopathy to help a range of common childhood problems.
Treatments are particularly effective in the treatment of joint problems, sprains, strains and tendonitis, repetitive strain injury (RSI), ligament problems, spinal problems, sports injuries and posture-related problems, due to work, pregnancy or other cause.
Osteopathy uses many of the diagnostic procedures involved in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis and it's main strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed holistically from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint.
Our osteopathic consultant also offers specialist support within a team of physiotherapists, podiatrists and acupuncturists. Our aim is to provide an effective service to our patients enabling rapid relief from pain together with long-lasting benefits. If you would like any further help or information please Email Us or simply call 020 8769 7409 to make an appointment. We look forward to being of help in the near future.
