Osteopathy at the Leigham Practice

Osteopathy forms an essential part of our specialist musculo-skeletal services and our Osteopathic Consultant, Martin Sheerin, applies his extensive skills to treat a wide variety of problems in babies, children and adults of all ages.

Osteopathy is arguably most well known for it's specialist care of back pain and spinal problems and the manipulation of bones and joints resulting in the characteristic 'clicking' back into better positions, but in fact osteopathy treats most of the musculo-skeletal problems treated by physiotherapy, with the addition of cranial osteoapthy to relieve common childhood problems.

Treatments are particularly effective in the treatment of joint problems,sprains, strains and tendonitis, repetitive strain injury (RSI), ligament problems, spinal problems, sports injuries and posture-related problems, due to work, pregnancy or other cause.

Osteopathy uses many of the diagnostic procedures involved in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis and it's main strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed holistically from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint.

Our osteopathic consultant also offers specialist support within a team of physiotherapists, podiatrists and acupuncturists.
